The Justice Sector Datalab is an initiative which will give the public full transparency on the main statistics relating to the performance of the justice sector. The Justice Sector Datalab allows users to analyse statistics about recorded offences, adults convicted in court and the prison population, and to search our research and evaluation collection. More information does exist in some areas, and this can be made available on a case-by-case basis to small government agencies, NGOs and not-for-profit agencies.
Transparency is fundamental to the integrity of a justice system, and we believe it is appropriate to provide information where it can easily be accessed by the public, media, and stakeholder groups - anyone with an interest in how well the sector is performing.
This information has been publicly available elsewhere, but this collection brings it together in an easy-to-use portal. By placing this information in one place, in a form which is easy to comprehend and where factors such as trends can easily be identified, a more appropriate degree of transparency is achieved.
We continue to review the Datalab, and we intend to increase the data and research stored on the site. We welcome your feedback - firstname.lastname@example.org.
